SWWAN, the Sellicks Woodlands and Wetlands Action Network, was founded in 2020 to oppose greenfield housing developments in the Sellicks Beach area.
SWWAN advocate that the land instead be conserved for environmental restoration as an essential response to the extinction crisis.
SWWAN have proposed an evidence-based plan for the restoration of the native habitat of Willunga Basin that addresses the existential threats of biodiversity loss and climate change.
SWWAN’s plan protects our agricultural industry, addresses the housing crisis, preserves the idyllic character of the current township of Sellicks Beach, the Willunga Basin and the Fleurieu Peninsula, and respects the cultural significance of the land to the Kaurna Nation.
